Frog Spawn

This afternoon, as part of our Life Cycles topic this half term, we visited the pond to look at frog spawn. We even spotted a frog! We will be back soon to check on the next stage of development. We are really excited to see tadpoles swimming around in our very pond!

Vicious Vikings!

This half term we will be working on our key skills in History and Music. Our big question for our History learning challenge is: How did the Vikings affect British society?

From our last history learning challenge we learned that the Vikings were pirates and began raiding England in 793 AD. We also learned that the Vikings were Pagan and so believed in many gods. We discussed what else we wanted to learn about the Vikings. Here are some of our questions:

When did the Vikings settle in England? By Suleman

Do Vikings still exist? By Iqra

What did they eat? By Iman

How did the Vikings protect themselves in battle? Did their helmets really have horns on them? By Danyal

How did they build their long ships? By Yanal

I am really looking forward to finding out the answers to these questions with you! Your homework is to research as much information as you can about how the Vikings affected British society.

Geography

We had a lot of fun locating the world’s main oceans and seas on a globe! We also worked with our partners to use atlases to locate the world’s major rivers.

What is the name of the world’s longest river?

How long is the Amazon river?

How long is the Mississippi River?

Where in the world is the River Ob?

Homework:
Choose a river to find out ten facts about. Possible questions could be:

How long is the river?

Which countries does it flow through?

Which sea/ ocean does it flow into?
